ABSTRACT
In conclusion, The study focused on how the Yoruba l2 speaker of English place stress on their words and also in their sentences . Stress is an accent that we make on certain syllables and words when speaking English. In some languages, for example Japanese, people say each syllable of words with same vocal force. But in English, we put a big and small force (stress) on some syllables and no force on some. This can make it really hard for speakers of other languages to comprehend English that is spoken fast. For native speakers it is not nearly as difficult for them - in fact, stress actually helps to improve native speakers and their understanding of each other. So it is highly important to them and to all English speaker, especially to Yoruba L2 Speakers and English listeners.
