ABSTRACT
Waste management is a critical global challenge that has garnered increasing attention due o its far-reaching environmental, social, and economic implications. This work provides an overview of the key problems associated with waste management and explores the prospects for sustainable solutions.
The problems in waste management encompass various aspects, including inadequate waste disposal infrastructure, improper waste handling practices, and the escalating volumes of waste generated by growing populations and urbanization. These issues lead to environmental degradation, health hazards, and a strain on resources and public finances.
This study centered on the assessment of solid waste management in the study area. A sample size of 248 respondents from different corners of the study area was used while random sampling techniques were used in administering questionnaires. Data collected were presented informs of tables. Hence , the result show a significant difference of solid waste disposal strategies and management practice amongst residents of the study area
In the quest for solutions, this research work examines the prospects for sustainable waste management strategies. These include waste minimization at the source, enhanced recycling and reuse programs, the adoption of advanced waste-to-energy technologies, and the promotion of circular economy principles. Additionally, it highlights the importance of public awareness and participation in achieving sustainable waste management.
