ABSTRACT

Male reproductive health is a critical aspect of the overall well-being, and disruptions in spermatogenesis, which significantly impacted fertility. This study investigated the potential spermatogenic effects of the aqueous polyherbal leaf extract in Streptozotocin-induced male anaphrodisiac rats. Thirty-nine adult Sprague-Dawley male rats were divided into 6 groups for the experiment. Post-treatment, rats were weighed and sacrificed for evaluation of organ weight, epididymal sperm count, sperm motility, sperm viscosity and sperm morphology. Statistical. Results indicated significant spermatogenic efficacy of the polyherbal extract and its protective role against streptozotocin-induced diabetes testicular dysfunction in rats.  An Increase in sperm count, motility, and serum testosterone levels served as an indicator in the restoration of reproductive function. It was revealed that the polyherbal extract elicited in contrast with the untreated control an increase in sperm count, motility, viscosity and morphology of the streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats thereby improving spermatogenesis. These results contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting the therapeutic potential of herbal remedies in male reproductive health. Further elucidation of the extract's mechanisms and long-term effects through additional studies could pave the way for its development of alternative agents in the management of male infertility and related conditions.
