ABSTRACT
Length- weight relationship, sex ratio, condition factor and proximate analysis are important aspects of fish biology, physiology, and ecology and fisheries assessment. A six-month study was conducted from January to determine the determine the length weight relationship, sex ratio, condition factor and proximate analysis of Mormyrus rume. Samples were collected once every month with gillnets from fisher folks. With the mean TL and Wt recorded as 24.4 cm and 119g respectively, they also had a mean sex ratio 1:1.1 indicating a higher number of females in Mormyrus rume population during the sampling duration, with the highest value recorded in January (1:1.5) and an equal value in march (1:1.5). The lowest K- factor of 0.66 was recorded in January and a mean value of 1.23 across the entire specimens during the sampling period, the mean nutrient composition was 61.1%, 5.0%, 1.8% and 22.9% for moisture, lipids, ash, protein and carbohydrates respectively, moisture having the highest value accompanied by carbohydrate.
