ABSTRACT
Solid Waste Management in a developing country framework presents challenges and opportunities, challenges in terms of constraints (lack of finances, population growth etc) and opportunities in terms of creating jobs and preventing the loss of valuable resources and wealth. This research aims and objective is to carryout inventory on solid waste management, the generation, Storage and collection of solid waste management, socio-economic effect of solid waste management and to juxtapose the parameter use on waste management in the study area. This study involved carrying out investigative study of the rates of wastes disposal, kinds of wastes generated, their effect on the environment and methods of waste management in the community, this research adopt a close ended method by distributing questionnaire to the household of Idumuje-Unor using a sample size of 80 questionnaires to generate data. The data collected are presented and where analyse using a simple percentage method of data analysis and a Bar chart. The study established that wastes were being constantly generated by the residence of the community, but were not being treated, nor recycled. So, it can be concluded that the residence of Idumuje-Unor are in need of a proper waste management system.
