SUMMARY
So far, 80 Yoruba proverbs have been analyzed in the previous chapter. It is impossible to analyze all the proverbs available in the linguistic repertoire of Yoruba language. These proverbs were randomly selected from Yoruba music, movies and native speakers.
This study has been able to analyze Yoruba proverbs with speech act theory (J.L AUSTIN,1962) showing the locutionary,illocutionary and perlocutionary effect on utterances.
