ABSTRACT

This study focuses on social work and elder abuse in Ugbogiobo community, Ovia North East Local Government Area. The study utilized a survey research design, targeting residents in the area. The simple random sampling technique was employed for the stud and the sample size was derived using taro Yamane formula. A sample size of 399 respondents was derived for the study. The data collection instrument was a structured questionnaire designed by the researcher after a thorough review of the literature. The validity of the instrument was ensured through scrutiny by the project supervisor and experts. Reliability was determined using the test retest method. The instrument was administered and collected by the researcher on the spot. The simple percentage method was used for data analysis, making it easier to interpret and understand the information. Social work investigations help pinpoint the client's assets and services required to ensure their continued safety and independence. The study concluded that honoring and exhibiting respect for the elderly is an important component of one's value system and should be taken seriously.
