ABSTRACT
Renewable energy sources have become a popular alternative electrical energy source where power generation in conventional ways is not practical. In this study, was proposed a hybrid energy system that combines both solar panels and wind turbine generators as an alternative to conventional sources of electrical energy. The design of the system was done using a MATLAB Simulink the component that was used in the design include the following: PV block, Dc-Dc boost converter, Inductor, Capacitor, Diode, MOSFET, pulse width modulator, Battery, inverter and wind generator. In the design, electrical energy is obtained from both sources: solar energy with the help of PV panels and wind energy from wind turbines. A solar panel absorbs the sun's rays and converts them into DC current. In addition, a wind turbine moves due to the force of the wind, and its rotor connects with a generator, which rotates and gives DC current. Now both currents work simultaneously to charge the battery, which then supplies energy to the load through an inverter, a DC-to-AC converter. The simulation results of the different blocks in the model are shown. The PV block has an output power of 1.2 kW and a voltage of 75.4 volts. While the wind generator block has an output power of 3.3 kW and a voltage of 71 volts.
