ABSTRACT
This study explores the advantages of sense relations among the Yoruba people using them as models of Kitchen Register. This study examines the various sense relations in Kitchen Register distributions of negation in Yorùbá dialects and comes up with some interesting questions, observations and claims. Negation is contextualised in the dia- lects; it is marked by different elements within the word and within the sentence. This study show that sense relation means of communication is very effective in Yoruba Kitchen Register. It also act as a stepping-stone for other researchers in this field. This study adds to the already existing knowledge of sense relation in Yoruba “Kitchen Register”, as a medium of communication. Specifically, it will draw attention to the knowledge of how sense relation in Yoruba would be treated together, it examine their complementary role to each other and how it helps in sending messages across.
