ABSTRACT

The present study focuses on the comprehensive analysis of the AI well within the Agbada Formation, the aim is to investigate the depositional environment as well as the major oxide present in the samples. Five (5) selected samples were subjected to X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) analyses. Additionally, the entire 100 samples underwent sedimentological analysis to determine, sorting and lithofacies of the sediments. The XRD and XRF analyses provided valuable insights into mineralogical composition of the five selected samples. The XRF results showed SiO2, Al2O3, FeO2, TiO2, MgO, CaO, K2O, MnO, and P2O5 are the oxides present in the sample. The result displayed that SiO2(63.264% - 36.662%) is the most dominant oxide, followed by FeO2 (19.718% - 10.519%) Al2O3 (16.147% - 10.462%) then CaO (6.642% - 3.069%) and TiO2(3.174% - 1.552%), others followed suite. Petrographic analysis employed showed the presence of Quartz (28.8% - 28.4%), Plagioclase (3.8% - 2.5%) and Clay Sand (57.2% - 52.8%). The clay sand deduced as Silty Sand. The Sedimentological analysis carried out allowed for the characterization of the sedimentary deposition environment in the Agbada Formation. The combination of the geochemical, Petrographical, and Sedimentological analysis presented in this study gives us a complete information of the major oxides as well as the minerals present which have the ability to promote and limit the reservoir performance.
