ABSTRACT

Clay is a vital geological material with diverse applications in construction and industrial processes. Understanding its sedimentological characteristics is essential for effective utilization and resource management. This study investigates the sedimentological properties of clay deposits in the Okada region of Edo State, Nigeria, employing field sampling techniques and the hydrometer method. This method offers a precise and efficient means of determining particle size distribution, settling velocity, and other pertinent parameters crucial for assessing clay quality. The results obtained shed light on the sedimentological properties of the clay, including grain size distribution, settling characteristics, and potential engineering applications. Furthermore, the study offers valuable insights into the geological and environmental dynamics of the region.
