ABSTRACT
This research examines the nutrition status of adolescents by examining the body mass index among University of Benin Demonstration secondary school. A survey was given to 120 students to collect information on their age, gender, weight, height, dietary habit, physical activity, and sleeping hours. The findings show that sport activities does not have a significant impact in BMI, number of meals per day does not have positive effect on obesity in adolescents and consumption of beverage and snacks has positive effect on obesity. Recommendations were made to incorporate more physical activity, take two meals to three per day and also reduce consumption of beverage and snacks because a balanced diet and regular physical activity are essential for maintaining optimal nutrition status and overall health.
