ABSTRACT
This study examines the relationship between science education and economic development, highlighting the potential of science education to drive innovation, entrepreneurship and economic growth. This study also examines the role of science education in promoting sustainable development. It discusses the skills and knowledge acquired through science education, such as critical thinking, problem solving and creativity which are essential for addressing economic challenges. A number of challenges that hinders economic growth and development were considered with opportunities that can be leveraged upon in addressing these challenges. The study concludes that science education is a vital tool for addressing economic challenges in achieving sustainable development and that investment in science education are essential for building a prosperous and sustainable future. The study recommend among others that Government should institutionalize a policy framework for the continuous funding of science education at all level so as to harness the resources inherent in STEM fields for economic growth and sustainable development.
