ABSTRACT
This research study investigated the assessment of role of school guidance counsellors in promoting mental health awareness among students: a case study of secondary schools in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State. While the study was done, three research questions were used to guide the study. Survey research technique was used for this study. The data gotten from the research study was analysed using percentage and frequency table. The aim of this study was to examine the role of school guidance counsellors in promoting mental health awareness among students: a case study of secondary schools in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State and also give ideas of how the issue of health awareness initiatives can be done. In order to figure out these research problems, various methodology was used such as population of the study and sample and sampling techniques and the research instrument used in collecting data were a two structured questionnaire, Section A and Section B. The first section was organized to obtain the demographic information from the respondents while the second section was designed to get the information of the topics under investigation. The instrument was reviewed and validated by the project supervisor and other experts in the Department of Evaluation And Counselling Psychology, Faculty of Education, University of Benin, Benin City.
