The study investigated the role of counselling in enhancing the well-being and academic success of students with physical disabilities in public junior secondary schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, four research questions were raised and answered. The sample size for the study was made up of 100 respondents. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The instrument that was used for the data collection is a structured questionnaire titled “Role of Counselling in Enhancing the Well-Being and Academic Success of
Students with Physical Disabilities Questionnaire” (RCEWASSPDQ). Data collected from the respondents was analyzed using descriptive statistics, precisely mean and standard deviation.
The findings from the study include that there is a significant impact of counselling on the psychological well-being of students with physical disabilities in public junior secondary schools. It was concluded that counselling plays a significant roles in enhancing the well-being and academic success of students with physical disabilities in public junior secondary schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The study recommended among others that there should be concerted efforts by all educational stakeholders to ensure that counseling services are accessible to students with physical disabilities by providing accommodations such as wheelchair ramps, sign language interpreters, or virtual counseling options.
