Architecture over time has undergone a swift change, growth, and evolution over the year with respect to construction style, equipment, and building materials. In Benin city, there is a great difference between traditional and contemporary buildings with respect to thermal comfort and durability

This paper presents a comparative analysis of both traditional and contemporary dwellings in Benin City, Edo State, using Ugbowo as a study area. The evolution of the Benin traditional architecture to the present practiced contemporary architecture would be the main focus Highlighting the properties, materials, and construction methodology with the aim of improving modern building and encouraging the use of local materials.

In order to explore how the Benin architectural style changed from the traditional to the modern era, a case study technique was employed in this study. The study demonstrates how traditional architecture has changed through time with regard to architectural practice in Benin City.

A careful analysis of a historical and modern case study has revealed both the benefits and drawbacks of architecture. The study's objective is to examine and compare Benin's traditional and modern architectural styles while highlighting their progress.

This study examines the benefits and drawbacks of the various periods of Benin architectural design further making reference to different factors affecting the evolution like culture etc.
