ABSTRACT
The effect of fertilizer application and seed orientation on the growth and yield of Fluted Pumpkin (Telfairia occidentalis) was evaluated between 10th of May to 21st of August 2023 at the Experimental Farm of the Department of Crop Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. The experiment was a 3 x 4 factorial in RCBD replicated three times. The treatments include four fertilizer application rates: F1: Control, F2: sole application of 400kg/ha NPK 15:15:15, F3: Poultry manure (20 t/ha), F4: 200kg/ha NPK 15:15:15 + 10 t/ha Poultry manure and three levels of seed orientation: F (flat), S (Slant 45°), U (upwards). Data were collected on some vegetative characters: days to emergence, plant height (cm), number of leaves, stem diameter (cm), leaf area (cm²) and numbers of branches and some reproductive characters: herbage weight (kg/m²) and herbage yield (t/ha).
