ABSTRACT
This work has so far been able to help us understand the various aspects of the relevance of a prominent personality from Ogbomoso in Oyo state politics. The political history of Oyo state from creation till 2011 was examined and with the personality under examination being Prince Adebayo Alao-Akala, we have also come to see and understand the political activities and circumstances of his rising and continued relevance. First, we looked at the manner of politicking in the old Oyo state and how various individuals featured in it. Furthermore, we looked at how those individuals transitioned through the 2nd, 3rd and 4th republics. The national politics and how it influenced or was influenced by Oyo state and Ogbomoso in particular, was also analysed. Alao-Akala's relevance in Oyo State politics, from inception in 1996 till 2022 when he died, is a multifaceted narrative as it has been seen. This comprehensive exploration was able shed light on the man, the politician, and the evolving dynamics of politics in Oyo State during this period. Through a careful analysis of his journey, we gained insight into the broader political landscape of Nigeria's southwestern region.
