RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PRINCIPALS’ LEADERSHIP STYLES AND JOB SATISFACTION OF TEACHERS IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE

ABSTRACT

The study investigated the relationship between principals’ leadership styles and job satisfaction of teachers in secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, three research questions were raised and answered. The sample size for the study was made up of 186 teachers. Questionnaire was used for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using simple percentage and frequency count. The findings from the study revealed that there is high level of teachers’ job satisfaction in secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between principals’ leadership styles and job satisfaction of teachers in secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The study recommended among others that secondary school principals should often make more use of democratic leadership style. This will go a long way towards enhancing the level of teachers’ job performance.
