ABSTRACT
This work examines the issue of racial discrimination and oppression alongside the resulting crisis of identity that rises up using two literary works from two different times, that is, Buchi Emecheta’s Kehinde and Tayari Jones An American Marriage. Both written in 1994 and 2018 respectively, we see the prevailing attitudes of the westerners and how these attitudes have rubbed off on Africans in the way they also interact with themselves as colonialism. The methodology used for analysis is the qualitative method of research where primary text are interpreted alongside secondary materials which include articles from journals, books from the library, PDF materials and other relevant internet sources.
