ABSTRACT
The aim of this paper is to evaluate the phytochemicals by using a quantitative analysis of the methanol extract of the stem of the sapo plant (Anthoclesta djalonensis) with the help of standard methodology.16.8g of dried powdered stem was soaked using 4.9 liters of 100% methanol with constant stirring . Filtration was done then the crude extract was concentrated with a rotary evaporator after 72 hours The quantitative analysis were done in triplicate and the results were statistically analysed using a standard methodology package. And the results show that the plant contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tanins and terpenoids in varying concentrations with saponins having the highest concentration, terpenoids, tannins ,flavonoids and alkaloids having the least concentration. The result was compared to a standard result and it was observed that these Phytochemicals has medicinal properties such as anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, etc.
