ABSTRACT
Anthcloeista grandiflora is a plant species known for its medicinal properties, therefore, the qualitative assessment of the phytochemicals present in the plant is necessary, to explain the reason behind its enthomedicinal properties and also determine its histological impact on various rat organs. The study begins by conducting phytochemical analysis of A. grandiflora, aiming to identify the phytochemicals compounds present within the plant using different test procedures. After the test, the phytochemicals included Tannins, Saponins, Flavonoids, Alkaloids, Carbohydrate, Terpenoids, Proteins and phenolic compound. With flavonoids more in quantity than the others. Subsequently, the extract was administered to Four (4) groups of five (5) rats each were used randomly. Water treatment was given to the control group (Group I), while the extract at doses of 200, 400, and 800mg/kg of body weight (bwt) were orally administered to groups II, III, and IV respectively, for a period of 28 days, and the histological effects on their organs were thoroughly investigated. The target organs include the liver, kidney, heart, testis, and spleen, which are pivotal in maintaining overall physiological homeostasis. The results showed that the plan has beneficial effect on the heart, liver, spleen, kidney and testis after the histological examination. No toxic effects were seen; hence it can be said to be considerably safe. The results obtained from this research project shed light on the pharmacological potential of A. grandiflora and provide insights into its safety and efficacy.
