ABSTRACT

Social media has become a predominant phenomenon in the academic habitat. This study seeks to examine public perception of the use of social media platforms for the dissemination of information by University of Benin. The study is premised on the perception theory and technology acceptance model was employed in this study since social media is technology-based and social media usage is subject to how it is perceived. The study adopted the survey research design. Hence, 100 questions were administered to a sample size of 100 respondents. Findings revealed the University of Benin disseminate relevant information often which makes students feel included and important. It is recommended that University's management should ensure that official social media accounts are known all students and that these accounts should be active and engaging.
