SUMMARY
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the potential of urine analysis as a diagnostic tool for prostate cancer, and to understand the extent to which it can provide insight into the nature and progression of the disease. The study aims to investigate the diagnostic accuracy and reliability of urine-based biomarkers for the early detection of prostate cancer, and to explore the potential for developing novel, non-invasive diagnostic methods. Furthermore, the study aims to answer practical questions like, is urine more efficient in providing diagnosis and prognosis of clinically statistically significant prostate cancer? Can urine testing be an actual replacement for digital rectal examination? Can urinalysis alone be enough to diagnose prostate cancer?
For the study, I conducted a comprehensive search of peer-reviewed literature on urine-based testing in PCa, analysing original studies and a small number of reviews to identify promising biomarkers and trends in this field. In this study, I investigate the potential of using urine as a source of biomarkers for early detection and prediction of prostate cancer (PCa) prognosis.I discuss the technical aspects of urine collection and the various methodologies used in biomarker discovery, including genomics, epigenetics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. Furthermore, I highlight the strengths and limitations of urine-based testing for PCa and outline potential challenges that need to be addressed in future research.
