Abstract
The study assessed the prospect and challenges of government-owned broadcast media in the dissemination of information. The study was embarked upon to unravel the factors responsible for the various problems confronting the broadcast media owned by government. Findings of the study revealed that problems of government-owned broadcast media include; political, economic, managerial, and technical as well as worker's attitude to work. The results of the findings are based on responses obtained from the respondents. It was concluded that the present state of government-owned broadcast media is deplorable and needs urgent attention by the government to improve upon its performance and credibility. \The essay further recommended Government should review existing laws and decrees that threaten the continue and stability as well as viability of the media especially state owned media.
