This study investigated Principals’ Administrative Effectiveness as correlate of Teachers’ Job Performance in Public secondary schools in Edo State. Eight research questions were raised for the study, two were answered and six were hypothesized and tested at ≤0.05 level of significance. The study was a survey research which adopted the correlational research design. The population of the study comprises of all the three hundred and six (306) principals and two thousand, two hundred and eighty (2280) teachers in the three hundred and six (306) public secondary schools in Edo State. The sample size constituted sixty-one (61) principals and three hundred and sixty-six (366) teachers in sixty-one (61) public secondary schools, in the three senatorial district of Edo State. This represent twenty percent (20%) and sixteen percent (16%) respectively of the total population. The sample was selected using the multi-stage sampling procedure. Two sets of questionnaire; Principals’ Administrative Effectiveness Questionnaire (PAEQ) and Teachers’ Job Performance Questionnaire (TJPQ) were used to elicit information from the respondents. The researcher validated the instrument with the assistance of her supervisors and two experts in the Department of Educational Management, Faculty of Education, University of Benin. The instrument was subjected to a test-retest reliability method. Data collected were analyzed using Cronbach Alpha statistics. The reliability of the 14 questionnaire was determined and established at 0.922 for the principals’ administrative effectiveness while 0.851 was obtained for Teachers’ Job Performance. The researcher, supported by two briefed research assistants administered the research instruments to ensure a complete retrieval of the instruments for data analysis. The research questions were answered using mean and standard deviation while the hypotheses were tested using Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and Fisher’s Z statistics. The findings of the study revealed that the level of principals’ administrative effectiveness and the level of teachers’ job performance were high. In the same vein, a positive correlation existed between principals’ administrative effectiveness and teachers’ job performance and there was no significant difference in the relationship between principals’ administrative effectiveness and teachers’ job performance based on sex, academic qualification, experience of the principal and school size. However, the finding revealed that there was a significant difference in the relationship between principals’ administrative effectiveness and teachers’ job performance based on school location. It was recommended, that more training and seminars should be organized for the principals and the teachers to sustain the high level of effectiveness and performance of the principals and the teachers respectively by the government through the ministry of education.
