ABSTRACT

Borehole water is one of the major sources of drinking water in Benin City. Such waters  are required to comply with minimum  standards in order to protect public health and  accepted as safe drinking water. In this paper, a study was under taken to investigate  the presence and effects of fungi in borehole drinking water in Benin City, using three  water samples from  three locations; in Ekosodin, University of Benin (UNIBEN) and  University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH). The water samples were collected in a  sterilized plastic water bottle and were subjected to membrane filtration technique and  plating method to determine the fungal content of the water.
