ABSTRACT
Vigna ungiculata (Cowpea) is one of the five most important legumes in the tropic and provides the protein for most people in the region and nitrogen soils Callosobrochus maculatus is a species of beetles known commonly as the cowpea weevil or cowpea seed beetle. The research was carried out in Uselu market where ten samples of Cowpea seeds were collected. Findings show that there is a high rate of proliferation of Callosobruchus maculatus on bean seed. It is highly imperative that measures should be taken to curb the rate of Callosobruchus maculatus as an insect pest in Cowpea weevil.
