ABSTRACT
The researcher examined newspaper coverage of open defecation in Nigeria with a specific study on the Vanguard newspaper. Premised on the agenda-setting Theory, the researcher adopted content Analysis as the research method. The researcher content analyzed all the editors of the Vanguard newspaper from May 2023 to December 2023. Findings revealed that the Vanguard Newspaper did not give adequate coverage to the issues of open defecation in Nigeria. Based on the findings, the researcher concluded that the danger of open defecation has not been adequately highlighted in the Nigerian Press. Based on the conclusion, the researcher recommended among other things that the Nigerian press especially those in the print media should set an agenda for adequate discussion on issues such as pollution, environmental sustainability, and the danger of open defecation that have a strong bearing on the health of the people. This will serve as awareness creation among Nigerians.
