ABSTRACT
This study focuses on the proverbial terms used by the Mbaise people in Nigeria to examine their rich cultural legacy. In Mbaise culture, proverbial expressions have an important role in communication, the preservation of traditional knowledge, and the expressing of moral principles. The purpose of this study is to collect, catalog, analyze, and delve into the cultural meaning of proverbial expressions used by the Mbaise people in communication and social interaction. Utilizing interviews, observations, and analyses of Mbaise literature and oral traditions, this project will take a qualitative method. This research will begin by giving a thorough introduction of the Mbaise people, their history, and their cultural setting. The study of proverbial idioms, including their forms, interpretations, and usage patterns, will then begin. The acquired information will be examined using theme analysis and comparisons to other African societies. In addition, the study will look at how proverbial expressions affect the Mbaise community’s social norms, dispute resolution, and moral instruction. It will also look into how they affect the maintenance of languages and the generational transmission of cultural knowledge. The results (findings) of this study will add to the body of knowledge already known about cultural expressions and proverbs in Africa. It will be easier to appreciate the Mbaise people’s cultural history and to understand other cultures if you are familiar with their proverbs. The project’s findings will be made available through scholarly publications, neighborhood workshops, and internet forums to raise awareness of and support for Mbaise culture preservation.
