ABSTRACT

The study area is a producing oil field that falls within a complex geology formation in the northern Niger delta basin with an elevation anomaly relative to the neighboring oil concessions. the research applied the principles of remote sensing and geographical information system in addressing the causes of the type of shot produced. the elevation was estimated to range from 4m to 65m using the shuttle radar topography the seismic data was acquired by the following process, the 3d seismic data is acquired through the following processes. Scouting, Planning, Surveying, Drilling, Recording, quality control, demobilization assessment & compensation this is a standard practiced in the entire seismic industry. mission imagery generated contour map and digital elevation model, the following steps were taking before the elevation and shot classification, projection and sub setting imageries, the srtm, Landsat etm 7+ and the spot 5 imageries acquired cover beyond the area of interest the study area in the geographic coordinate system, creation of a triangulated irregular network (tin), gridding and contouring and after the shot classification and elevation classification, a thematic post map was created, this project is undertaking to show how elevation variation affect the quality of shot.
