Efforts to address global food security concerns require a dedicated focus on mitigating postharvest losses, which contribute significantly to the reduction of the world's food supply. This study investigates the specific strategy of post-harvest losses in crops, with a specific emphasis on Cassava tuber (Manihot esculenta), a highly perishable staple root and tuber crop facing distinct challenges in maintaining quality. The research explores ways to improve the storage of cassava tuber after harvest. This study investigates the impact of waxing on the storage quality of cassava tuber, focusing on moisture content, tuber injuries, shelf life, and wax type. Results indicate that waxing significantly reduces moisture loss during storage, with an average decrease of 5.3% compared to unwaxed tuber. Moreover, pre-existing injuries or cuts on tuber do not impair the effectiveness of waxing, provided they are cleaned and treated with fungicides. The waxing process extends the shelf life of cassava tuber by more than two weeks, particularly when applied to unpeeled tuber, which retain their protective skin. Additionally, the use of paraffin wax emerges as a cost-effective and readily available option for local farmers. These findings underscore the practicality and efficacy of waxing as a preservation method for cassava tuber, offering valuable insights for agricultural practices aimed at minimizing post-harvest losses
