Abstract
This study looks into the issues of political corruption and the effects it has on the people and on the nation within the context of Niyi Osundare's Random Blues and Tayo Olafioye's Parliament of Idiots: Tryst of the Sinators. Applying a Marxist theoretical framework, it explores the instances where political corruption is displayed in Osundare and Olafioye's poetry collections, such as a dysfunctional democratic system, lack of transparency in governance, deception, bgodfatherism, and money laundering. The study examines how these corrupt practices affects the people and the nation, leading to poverty, regression and loss of political interest. By engaging with the intersection of literature, Marxist theory, and socio- political critique, this study offers a comprehensive understanding of the thematic elements in Osundare and Olafioye's poetry collections and their broader implication for the society.
