ABSTRACT
This study examines the politeness strategies employed by the characters in their interactions inLove of an Angel. The objective is to examine how the characters value verbal and non-verbal aggression in the novel. This involves collection of data through surveys, reading and observation, and employed a qualitative approach to analyzing the data.
The research reveals that the four politeness strategies suggested or propounded by Brown and Levinson, Love of an Angel used the strategies; bald on record politeness, positivepoliteness, negative politeness and off record politeness. These strategies are used bycharacters to attack ordefend each other's face.
