ABSTRACT
Burn injuries present significant challenges to patients' recovery, often requiring specialized nutritional support to facilitate healing and mitigate complications. In this study, we focused on analyzing the phytochemical and proximate composition of a wholly compounded indigenous supplementary burn feed flour. Unripe plantains, soybeans, Ekpoma rice, crayfish, and groundnuts were bought from the market, then washed and dried. The flour was created by combining an approximate percentage of each sample, which was then mixed to produce a fully compounded flour blend. The flour was accessed for its nutrient composition and Phytochemicals. The proximate analysis showed the presence of carbohydrate(19.98%), protein(7.75%), fiber(0.34%), moisture(5.23), fat(4.97), ash(2.03) and dry matter(94.76) contents. The Phytochemical analysis showed that tannin(3252.680Mg/Kg), phytate(17.713%) and oxalate(0.960%) were present in the flour. The accessibility and cost-effectiveness of incorporating this rice blend make it a viable choice for improving the nutritional intake of burn patients. Integrating this flour blend into the diets of burn patients may result in accelerated healing processes.
