Abstract
This research work is about the phonological process of assimilation in Igbo (Abueke dialect) with a view to the examination of how homorganic nasal assimilation makes it possible for a consonant to have its own syllable in a word. This syllabic consonant occurs without an adjoining vowel in its linguistic environment; however, with a condition it must precede another contiguous consonant which has the same phonetic feature of place of articulation. The 200 (two hundred) wordlist was used so as to get the equivalence of the words in the Igbo language. An audio recording was also used to identify nasalization and then other phonological features of utterances.
