ABSTRACT
This project examines “Personal Selling Practices in the Banking Industry” using United Bank of Africa, Benin City as a case study. The objective of the study was to determine the organization of personal selling activities in United Bank of Africa (UBA), and to ascertain the method used to achieve the goals of personal selling. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data from fifteen (15) respondents who were marketing staff in three different UBA branches (Akpakpava Road, Sapele Road and Airport Road). The responses were tabulated and analyzed using frequency distribution. The results showed that bank marketers in UBA Plc, Benin City are the people involved in personal selling, and they are usually within the age range of 25-40. It was shown that personal selling contributes towards building customer satisfaction. Due to the challenges faced during personal selling activities, it is recommended that marketers involved in personal selling need to have a very good and friendly relationship with customers. Banks need to provide marketers engaged in personal selling, tools that can enable them have access to customers and communicate more easily.
