ABSTRACT
This study examined the Effect of Performance Appraisal on Organisation’s performance using selected hotels in Benin City as a case study. To achieve the purpose of this study, qualitative and quantitative data were collected from different articles, books and online sources as well as the organisation human resource manual while the primary data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Copies of the questionnaires were distributed to the selected hotels employees. The data collected were analysed using explanatory inferential statistics. The questionnaire was designed on a five-point Likert scale to rate the effect of the factors in question. The research hypotheses were analysed using t-test, correlation and regression analysis by SPSS version 20.0 data analysis software. According to the findings of the study, performance appraisal activities such as performance monitoring, performance assessment and performance rewarding have a significant relationship with organisational performance; whereas performance planning, managing and reviewing have an insignificant relationship with organisational performance. As a result, performance appraisal was discovered to have a significant overall effect on organisational performance. Thus, the researcher recommended that the organisation should take these factors into strong consideration to ensure the effectiveness of employee performance to achieve the objective of the appraisal.
