ABSTRACT

The study sought to investigate the impact of perception of university students on traditional tie and dye and batik techniques in contemporary everyday fashion: a study of encouraging adoption , five research questions were raised to guide the study. The survey method was used for the study. The population of the study constituted of the entire textile  undergraduate students in University of Benin, Ekenhuan Campus. A break down of the population is 30 undergraduate students drawn from fine arts students in 400l and 300l for 2022/2023 academic session. The research instrument was titled Perseption of university students on traditional tie-dye and batik techniques in contemporary everyday Fashion Questionnaire.The instrument was validated by  the project supervisor and two other lecturers in the department of vocational and technical education. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The descriptive analysis involved frequency count, and means score analysis. A criterion mean of 2.50 was set as benchmark for decision making. After the analysis, it was found in the study that graphics design has an impact on development of entrepreneurial skills on junior Secondary school students. It was also revealed that fashion design has an impact on the entrepreneurial skills development of Junior Secondary school students and that junior secondary school students agreed that design and architecture practicals empower them to develop their entrepreneurial skills.  The study therefore concluded that creative arts subjects have impacted and influenced entrepreneurial skills development of Junior Secondary School students of Egor LGA, Edo state. On the basis of the findings and conclusion reached in the study, it was recommended among others that the creative art practical projects should be integrated into the curriculum and students should be encouraged to create logos, posters, or digital content for hypothetical businesses.
