ABSTRACT

This study aimed to investigate the level of oral health knowledge and practices among primary school pupils in Oredo Local Government Area. It also explored the impact of access to oral health education and care services, the influence of socioeconomic factors, and the role of cultural practices and beliefs on their oral health behaviors. The study collected responses from pupils to answer four research questions. Table 1 presented findings in response to Research Question 1, highlighting a high level of oral health knowledge among the pupils. They demonstrated a strong understanding of the importance of regular toothbrushing, the harmful effects of sugary snacks and beverages, and the significance of dental check-ups. Furthermore, the pupils exhibited commendable oral health practices, including regular toothbrushing and flossing, avoiding sugary snacks, using fluoride toothpaste, and visiting the dentist. These results suggest that oral health awareness efforts have been effective in the region.
