ABSTRACT
The study investigates the role of film in promoting mental health awareness in Nigeria. This study was conducted through the Mass Communication department students, University of Benin, Edo State. Survey research was conducted, using the random sampling method. The instrument of the research was questionnaire which comprised of two hundred and fifty respondents. It was revealed through the study that current state of mental health is not prominent. Also, the study shows that film have a great role to play in mental health awareness in Nigeria. Recommendations to promote mental health awareness include enhancing representation, collaborating with mental health professionals, providing training on mental health sensitivity, advocating for government support, and conducting public awareness campaigns within the film industry to foster a more inclusive and informed cinematic landscape that effectively addresses mental health issues in Nigeria.
