ABSTRACT
This Study examined the pattern of social media usage among female undergraduates of Mass Communication University of Benin. The research aims were to examine the level of female UNIBEN Mass Communication Undergraduate addictiveness to the social media, determine the social media network UNIBEN Mass Communication Undergraduates majorly use, search for the importance of social media platforms for female UNIBEN Mass Communication Students and ascertain the pattern of social media usage by UNIBEN Mass Communication female undergraduates. The study was the based on the uses and Gratification Theory. The research method was survey while the research instrument was the questionnaire. Findings showed that there is a high usage of social media by female undergraduates and that female undergraduates use social media for Communication, Research, Information, Entertainment and many more. Based on the findings, it was recommended that the Female Undergraduates should be cautious of their pattern of social media usage and make their academics their utmost priority. The social media should rather be use majorly for academics than just fun and that female undergraduates should discipline themselves on the contents they are exposed to on social media as some contents could cause a life time damage to them.
