ABSTRACT

This study examines the patriarchal exploitation of women on selected Nigerian plays. Through a qualitative analysis of these plays using textual analysis, the research explores how both playwrights illustrate the pervasive and damaging effects of patriarchal norms on women's lives in Nigeria. This study examines the representation of female characters within the dramatic contexts and patriarchal exploitation of women in selected Nigerian plays, revealing how the themes of cultural exploitation and exploitation of perceived illiteracy are manifested and rooted in patriarchy. By analyzing these works, this abstract aims to illuminate the broader social and cultural issues surrounding gender inequality and women's struggles for agency and empowerment in Nigerian society.
