ABSTRACT
This study focused on the effect of organisational support on employee voice behaviours in public firms in Edo State. It examined the effects of employer, supervisor and fellow employees supports on employee voice behavioural performance in selected public organisations in Edo State, Nigeria. The geographical scope of this study is restricted to 28 public service ministries in Edo State. The study adopted a cross-sectional survey research design and had a population of 2805 employees as at May, 2021. A sample size of 367 was derived from the population using Yamani’s (1967) sample size determination formula for finite population. An additional 20% of making a total 420 copies of the questionnaire were distributed. The study utilized purposive and convenient sampling techniques in conducting the sampling while regression analysis was used in testing the hypotheses with the aid of SPSS v 20. The findings are that perceived employer support positively and significantly influence promotive and prohibitive voice behavioural performance among employees in Edo State Public Sector; perceived fellow employee support positively and significantly influence promotive voice behavior but negatively and significantly influence prohibitive voice behavioural performance among employees in Edo State Public Sector. It was recommended amongst other things that the public sector management in Edo State should provide more support to its employees and show greater concern and care for employees’ well-being in order to promote desired employee voice behavioural performance.
