Abstract
An organization is an entity made up of people managing and coordinating other resources for the achievement of stated objectives within an uncertain and complex environment. Politics (activities aimed at empowering or improving one’s status) has become an inevitable component of an organization, which contributes positively or negatively to the achievement of its aims and objectives, and survival. Employee recognition is one of the most important factors in driving workplace engagement, productivity, and employee retention. This study aims at examining the significant relationship between organizational politics and employee recognition using political tools, such as ingratiation, coalition forming, impression management and other factors.
In ascertaining this relationship, a cross-sectional survey design (data from a sample that has been chosen to represent a population) was adopted in collecting the needed primary data using a structured questionnaire format and textbooks, journals, publications, etc. as secondary source.
In summary, it has been discovered that a significant influence exists between organizational politics and employee recognition in the selected institution of the research. It was also discovered when employees are recognized, there is a fair playground and better productivity at the organization. It is recommended that employees should be recognized at the place of work.
