Summary
From the reviewed empirical studies in the preceding section, researcher’s emphasis was on the assessment of the awareness level of environmental pollution or climatic change among different groups of people which also included secondary school students. Other studies on Nigeria also examined the attitudinal and behavioral features of specified classes of people regarding variations in climatic conditions, environmental degradation, environmental management and pollution. But none of these empirics considered the inclusion pollution education in academic curriculum of institutions of learning.
This study differs from the reviewed empirical works as it bridges the gaps inherent in empirical literature and contributes to the body of knowledge by investigating the attitudes of secondary school students towards inclusion of pollution education in their curriculum. Specifically, a case study of Edo state is considered as there appears to be a dearth of studies of this nature on the state.
