ABSTRACT
The project carries out an analysis of the nominalization methods present in Ikwerre language. This work was done because of the need for proper documentation of the language under study. It focuses on nominalization at the word/lexical level of the language. The set objectives for this work is to identify nominalization methods in Ikwerre and the type of nominal derived. The primary data for the project was collected from the native speakers of Ikwerre, while the secondary data was collected from linguistics materials . The theoretical framework work that is being adopted in this study is principles and parameters which states that grammar can be similar or differ. This was chosen because nominalization method is dependent on the structure of a language. This project shows that nominalization methods in language'A' may be different from language'B'. In addition the work reveals that that nominalization in Ikwerre is very productive, using strategies like prefixation, suprafixation and compounding.
