ABSTRACT

While Nigeria played a pivotal role in diplomatic mediation, provided economic support and demonstrated regional leadership, the corruption, prolonged conflict and 62 limited influence on UNITA represent significant failures. Nigeria's involvement demonstrated the complexities and challenges associated with intervening in civil conflicts and pursuing foreign policy objectives in a regional context. Nigeria's involvement in the Angola crisis left a lasting impact on its foreign policy.and military engagements. It highlighted the challenges of intervening in complex civil conflicts and the importance of regional cooperation. The experience in Angola influenced Nigeria's approach to subsequent peacekeeping missions and emphasized the need for post- conflict reconstruction strategies.
