In the first four chapters of this project, a systematic and vivid attention was given to establish and ascertain the nature of negation between the languages under study which are Urhobo and Esan.
In the chapter one of this work, a lucid examination was given to the Esan and Urhobo language and people, also, their orthography was looked at not excluding their linguistic status via the Edoid family tree by Elugbe (1989:62). Moreso, the essence of this study which is the relationship between the two languages by getting information from competent speakers via interviews and relevant books which were cited in the work to potray the significance of the work under study which help develop better theory on how words, phrases and sentences are being used in Esan and Urhobo language. Meanwhile, the chapter two of this work reviewed authors that have worked previously on negation.
The chapter three of this work reveals the frame work for analysis which is the comparative method, this explains and account for the genetic relationship between two languages i.e to know their origin and also to see their relationships by applying it to various languages. Also, justification for the frame work was also looked at.
In chapter four of this project, the data gotten from competent speakers was presented and analyzed as regarding the negation between the two languages under study via various types of sentences which are the simple, complex and compound sentence. Negations as seen in commands and tenses were not excluded. The chapter five of this work which happens to be the last chapter entails the summarization (chapter by chapter summary and also findings gotten consequent of the work including viable recommendation.
