ABSTRACT

The research work focused on motivation and employee performance of workers in Nigeria immigration service. The objective of the study is to know how workers react to the influence of motivation in their performance in the organization. The study made use of survey research design, where structured questionnaires were distributed to 60 workers of the Nigeria immigration service. Responses from the survey were analysed using descriptive statistics with the aid of Social Sciences Statistical Package (SPSS) analytical tool. In analysing the data, analysis of variance (ANOVA), simple percentages, means and independent t-test statistics were used.

The following findings were pointed out; remuneration and work environment did not have an influence on employee performance and is below average, and that work hour has a great influence on employee performance. The hypothesized relationships show that there is no significant relationship between remuneration, work environment and work hour as it influences employee performance.

This discussion embraces a useful number of recommendations. These include the following, the organization should focus on other tools that improve employee performance and also take the issue of employee motivation seriously.

Firms should manipulate the possibility of achieving an adequate performance from workers by the use of motivational tools that will boost their morale

Heads of departments should equip themselves to face challenges that result from motivation strategies and ensure growth in performance.
